MWC 2012. LG Unveils L-Style Smartphones

MWC 2012. LG Unveils L-Style Smartphones

On one hand it is not new to have a lineup with a special name, but at the same time in days of Android tablets we forget that phones used to come in lineups. LG L-Style is a bit middle of the road, but all models use Аndroid and have a minimalistic design.
I will start with the design. All models look like white or black rectangular bars with textured plastic backs and smooth sides. Under the screen there is one hardware button and two sensor keys – call and back. Smartphones look simple and lack any verve. The only difference is textured plastic. I do not know if it was made on purpose, but all L-Style handsets clearly resemble Samsung Galaxy S II.
The lineup consists of three models named LG Optimus L7, L5 and L3. I would also add here a tiny T385 Wi-Fi, which I will describe later on.
A flagship in this range L7 boasts a 4.3” screen capable of displaying up to 16 million colours. The resolution must be qHD (960x540), but I can be mistaken. The model runs on a dual core 1 GHz processor and comes equipped with 1 GB of RAM. It is not clear how much memory is available for data storage (this information will be added later and you can share your insights on our forum). The handset has a 5 MP camera with flash and Android 4.0 under the hood.
In the middle we get L5 with a 4” screen (320x480), which looks odd. The picture is not tidy and when I looked at it for the first time I thought there was a defected screen. The effect is produced by a strange combination of large screen and low resolution. The handset features a 800 MHz processor, 5 MP camera, memory card slot, Android 4.0 and NFC support.
The most accessible LG Optimus L3 has only a 3.2” screen (240x320) to display 256 thousand colors. A 800 MHz processor is accompanied by a 3 MP camera with fixed focus, memory card slot and Android 2.3. The build is excellent and this light phone fits any hand well. If the price is right this model can be attractive as an entry-level Android smartphone.
Another offering in LG pavillion is T385 Wi-Fi. I think names of models are often created by people with weird sense of humor. This handset was supposed to be called T1000, but then a more humble Т385 emerged. Wi-Fi is like a final period in the name. This accessible Android solution has a 3.2” QVGA (240x320) screen, 2 MP camera with fixed focus and a memory card slot. The model looks fine and similar to senior models the back cover is made of black textured plastic. It looks very tiny in hands, but one can get accustomed to it easily.
I would also like to mention 3D MAX. This second model in the 4D range resembles the flagship solution, but the back cover has a different shape to add more compact dimensions. A 4.3” (800x480) screen supports 3D imagery without special glasses and is covered by GorillaGlass. A dual core 1.2 GHz processor comes together with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB for data storage with a memory card slot into the bargain. A couple of 5 MP cameras allow taking 3D shots and recording 3D videos. Android 2.3 will be updated to 4.0 soon.
3D picture is available, but my eyes were still strained afterwards. The technology race continues.
